Schopenhauer suggests that just as your dreams are composed by an aspect of yourself of which your consciousness is unaware, so, too, your whole life is composed by the will within you. And just as people whom you will have met apparently by mere chance became leading agents in the structuring of your life, so, too, will you have served unknowingly as an agent, giving meaning to the lives of others. The whole thing gears together like one big symphony, with everything unconsciously structuring everything else. And Schopenhauer concludes that it is as though our lives were the features of the one great dream of a single dreamer in which all the dream characters dream, too; so that everything links to everything else, moved by the one will to life which is the universal will in nature.

Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.

Action is what converts human dreams into significance.

Dreams are necessary to life.

No story sits by itself. Our lives connect like threads on a loom, interwoven in ways we never realise.

Dreams transform into thoughts
And thoughts result in action.

Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.

A dream becomes a reality as a result of your actions, and your actions are controlled, to a large extent, by your habits.

I do not know how to distinguish between waking life and a dream. Are we not always living the life that we imagine we are?

All our language is composed of brief little dreams; and the wonderful thing is that we sometimes make of them strangely accurate and marvelously reasonable thoughts. What should we be without the help of that which does not exist? Very little. And our unoccupied minds would languish if fables, mistaken notions, abstractions, beliefs, and monsters, hypotheses, and the so-called problems of metaphysics did not people with beings and objectless images our natural depths and darkness. Myths are the souls of our actions and our loves. We cannot act without moving towards a phantom. We can love only what we create.

Our life is no dream; but it ought to become one, and perhaps will.

Dreams and reality are opposites. Action synthesizes them.

Dream or nightmare, we have to live our experience as it is, and we have to live it awake. We live in a world which is penetrated through and through by science and which is both whole and real. We cannot turn it into a game simple by taking sides.

I learnt that dreams should be those that keep us awake, they are ideas that become actions that lead to change.
