For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.

Like a word on a page that you’ve printed and read a million times, that suddenly looks strange or wrong, foreign. And you feel scared for a second, like you’ve lost something, even if you’re not sure what it is.

Losing is a learning experience. It teaches you humility. It teaches you to work harder. It’s also a powerful motivator.

If you want to win you must first know what losing feels like.

When you think that you lost everything you find out you can always lose a little more.

Learn as if you were not reaching your goal and as though you were scared of missing it

When you learn a little, you feel you know a lot. But when you learn a lot, you realize you know very little.

"When suddenly you seem to lose all you thought you had gained, do not despair. You must expect setbacks and regressions. Don't say to yourself "All is lost. I have to start all over again." This is not true. What you have gained you have gained....When you return to the the road, you return to the place where you left it, not to where you started."

Everything you lose becomes something you are profoundly grateful for. With time, you see that it was not the path. It was what was standing in your way.

"A nice new thought," I said. "That's what learning is, after all: not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we've changed because of it and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning."

You always learn a lot more when you lose than when you win

Mostly it is loss which teaches us about the worth of things.

Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you learn.
