You recently had a day, or even a month, that you can’t remember.
If I asked what you did then, you couldn’t say.
There was nothing unusual about it.

If you didn't remember something happening, was it because it never had happened? Or because you wished it hadn't?

What you don't know may not hurt you, but what you don't remember always does.

There is no possibility of remembering what has been found and understood, and later repeating it to oneself. It disappears as a dream disappears. Perhaps it is all nothing but a dream.

But forgetting's not something you do, it happens to you.

A memory is not the thing remembered.

We forget: In life, it doesn’t matter what happens to you or where you came from. It matters what you do with what happens and what you’ve been given.

[Kids] don't remember what you try to teach them. They remember what you are.

Memories are what you no longer want to remember.

At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.

You don't have to understand why anything that has happened nor do you even have to understand what it is that has happened. You have only to live with the remains.

Your memory is a monster; you forget — it doesn't. It simply files things away. It keeps things for you, or hides things from you — and summons them to your recall with will of its own. You think you have a memory; but it has you!

When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it had happened or not; but my faculties are decaying now and soon I shall be so I cannot remember any but the things that never happened. It is sad to go to pieces like this but we all have to do it.
