It can truly be said: Men are the devils of the earth, and the animals are the tormented souls.

For the world is Hell, and men are on the one hand the tormented souls and on the other the devils in it.

Men destroy each other during war, themselves during peacetime.

All men hate the wretched.

Here were we wretched creatures of men making for each other's throats, and outraging the good earth which God had made so fair a habitation.

All men naturally hate one another. They employ lust as far as possible in the service of the public weal. But this is only a pretence and a false image of love; for at bottom it is only hate.

Men fight wars and destroy everything around them. The earth should open and swallow them up. He who does not value life does not deserve it. Never destroy another life through rage, or through malice.

Men and the world are mutually toxic to each other.
