People are not born hating each other and wishing to cause harm. It is a learned condition.

People aren't born good or bad. Maybe they're born with tendencies either way, but its the way you live your life that matters.

If we could raise one generation with unconditional love, there would be no Hitlers. We need to teach the next generation of children from Day One that they are responsible for their lives.

Mankind’s greatest gift, also its greatest curse, is that we have free choice. We can make our choices built from love or from fear.

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Children bring with them grace, patience, transcendence, second chances, rebirth and a reawakening of the love that’s in your heart and present in your home. They are God giving you another shot.

What's more, if we will hear them, they will teach us what they need; they will bluntly formulate the tenderness of their deserving."

We owe our children – the most vulnerable citizens in any society – a life free from violence and fear.

Adults can change their circumstances; children cannot. Children are powerless, and in difficult situations they are the victims of every sorrow and mischance and rage around them, for children feel all of these things but without any of the ability that adults have to change them. Whatever can take a child beyond such circumstances, therefore, is an alleviation and a blessing. I quickly found for myself two such blessings — the natural world, and the world of writing: literature. These were the gates through which I vanished from a difficult place.
