Through knowledge and understanding we will drive from the temple of freedom all those who seek to establish over us thought control, whether they be agents of a foreign state or demagogues thirsty for personal power and public notice.

He who replies to words of doubt
doth put the light of knowledge out.

ولم یكن ذلك بنظم دلیل وترتیب كلام ، بل
بنور قذفه الله تعالى في الصدر وذلك النور هو مفتاح أكثر المعارف ، فمن ظن أن
الكشف موقوف على الأدلة المحررة فقد ضیق رحمة الله [ تعالى ] الواسعة ؛ ولما سئل
رسول الله صلى الله علیه وسلّم عن ( الشرح ) ومعناه في قوله تعالى:
( (( فمن یرد الله أن یهدیه یشرح صدره للإسلام)) (الأنعام: 125
قال: (( هو نور یقذفه الله تعالى في القلب )) فقیل: (وما علامته ؟) قال: (( التجافي. وهو الذي قال صلى الله علیه وسلم ] عن دار الغُرُورِ والإنابة إلى دارِ الخُلُود ))
فیه:
(( إن الله تعالى خلق الخلقَ في ظُلْمةٍ ثم رشَّ علیهمْ من نُورهِ ))
فمن ذلك النور ینبغي أن یطلب الكشف ، وذلك النور ینبجس من الجود الإلهي في
بعض الأحایین ، ویجب الترصد له كما قال صلى الله علیه وسلّم:
(( إن لربكم في أیامِ دهركم نفحاتٌ ألا فتعرضُوا لها ))

لان العلم حياة القلوب من العمى ، ونور الابصار من الظلم ،وقوة الابدان من الضعف ،يبلغ به العبد منازل الابرار والدرجات العلى ،التفكر فيه يعدل بالصيام ، ومدارسته بالقيام ، به يطاع الله عز وجل وبه يوحد ويمجد،وبه يتورع،وبه توصل الارحام وبه يعرف الحلال من الحرام وهو امام والعمل تابعه، يلهمه السعداء ويحرمه الاشقياء

Aujourd'hui, on cherche partout à répandre le savoir; qui sait si, dans quelques siècles, il n'y aura pas des universités pour rétablir l'ancienne ignorance?

Knowledge always liberates.

كل علم يصير شعرا بعد ان كان فلسفة

to know truth one must get rid of knowledge,

What are the heights, and depths, and lengths, of human science, with all the boasted acquisitions of the brightest genius of mankind! Learning and science can measure the globe, can sound the depths of the sea, can compass the heavens, can mete out the distances of the sun and moon, and mark out the path of every twinkling star for many ages past, or ages to come; but they cannot acquaint us with the way of salvation from this long, this endless distress. What are all the sublime reasonings of philosophers upon the abstruse and most difficult subjects? What is the whole circle of sciences which human wit and thought can trace out and comprehend? Can they deliver us from the guilt of one sin? Can they free us from one of the terrors of the Almighty? Can they assuage the torment of a wounded spirit, or guard us from the impressions of divine indignation? Alas, they are all but trifles in comparison of this blessed Gospel, which saves us from eternal anguish and death.

It is the Gospel that teaches us the holy skill to prevent this worm of conscience from gnawing the soul, and instructs us how to kill it in the seed and first springs of it, to mortify the corruptions of the heart, to resist the temptations of Satan, and where to wash away the guilt of sin. It is this blessed Gospel that clearly discovers to us how we may guard against the fire of divine wrath, or rather how to secure our souls from becoming the fuel of it. It is this Book that teaches us to sprinkle the blood of Christ on a guilty conscience by faith, by receiving Him as sincere penitents, and thereby defends us from the angel of death and destruction. This is that experimental philosophy of the saints in Heaven whereby they have been released from the bonds of their sins, have been rescued from the curse of the law, and have been secured from the gnawing worm and devouring fire.

فقد قيدت الأطماع ألسن العلماء ، فسكتوا ، وإن تكلموا لم تساعد أقوالهم أحوالهم ، فلم ينجحوا .. ولو صدقوا وقصدوا حق العلم لأفلحوا ، ففساد الرعية بفساد الملوك وفساد الملوك بفساد العلماء وفساد العلماء باستيلاء حب المال والجاه ومن استولى عليه حب الدنيا لم يقدر على محاسبة الأرذال ، فكيف بمواجهة الملوك والحكام؟

The glory of science is, that it is freeing the soul — breaking the mental manacles — getting the brain out of bondage — giving courage to thought — filling the world with mercy, justice, and joy.
