Nobody is thinking about you the way you are thinking about you. They’re all thinking about themselves.

I’m not sure that I care for the idea of strangers examining my daily habits and folkways, studying my language, inspecting my costume, questioning me about my religion, classifying my artifacts, investigating my sexual rites and evaluating my chances for cultural survival. So I lived alone.

I do not live for what the world thinks of me, but for what I think of myself.

Ignore what everyone else is doing.
Your life isn’t about everyone else; it’s about you.

I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people's minds is not in my mind. I just do my thing.

I care not so much what I am in the opinion of others, as what I am in my own.

What, then, is your own? The way you live your life.

I am only resolved to act in that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to any person so wholly unconnected with me.

No matter what people call you, you are just who you are. Keep to this truth. You must ask yourself how is it you want to live your life. We live and we die, this is the truth that we can only face alone. No one can help us. So consider carefully, what prevents you from living the way you want to live your life?

Mine own people do not care for me, John Carter; I am too unlike them. It is a sad fate, since I must live my life amongst them.

If you expect others to think for you, then you expect others to live your life for you. And I’m sorry, but the only person I’ll let live my life for me is my clone. He thinks like me, so I’m OK with him thinking for me.

What other people think of me is none of my business.

You can never really live anyone else's life, not even your child's. The influence you exert is through your own life, and what you've become yourself.

But my way of writing is rather to think aloud, and follow my own humours, than much to consider who is listening to me; and, if I stop to consider what is proper to be said to this or that person, I shall soon come to doubt whether any part at all is proper.
