We work it out, or live it out.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time or die by suicide.

We may not be able to stop evil in the world, but how we treat one another is entirely up to us.

We're taking the fight to the terrorists abroad, so we don't have to face them here at home.

Either you deal with what is the reality, or you can be sure that the reality is going to deal with you.

We are fighting these terrorists with our military in Afghanistan and Iraq and beyond so we do not have to face them in the streets of our own cities.

We only think when confronted with a problem.

What are we to do, then? To make the best of what lies within our power, and deal with everything else as it comes. ‘How does it come, then?’ As God wills.

Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle but a lengthy campaign, unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic strikes, visible on TV, and covert operations, secret even in success. We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.

If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

We can't change it. We have to decide how we'll respond.

We each devise our means of escape from the intolerable.

We need to decide how we want to be treated. Then we need to begin treating others in that manner.

The strategy focuses on taking the fight against terrorists directly to them, isolating the terrorists from each other and potential allies, and disrupting plots before attacks occur.
