It [folk music] exceeded all human understanding, and if it called out to you, you could disappear and be sucked into it. I felt right at home in this mythical realm made up not with individuals so much as archetypes, vividly drawn archetypes of humanity, metaphysical in shape, each rugged soul filled with natural knowing and inner wisdom. Mama, take this badge off of me
I can’t use it anymore
It’s getting dark, to dark for me to see
I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door

I can’t shoot them anymore
That long black cloud is com in’ down
I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door
