It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

What this country needs... what this great land of ours needs is something to happen to it. Something ferocious and tragic, like what happened to Jericho or the cities of the plain - something terrible I mean, son, so that when the people have been through hellfire and the crucible, and have suffered agony enough and grief, they’ll be people again, human beings, not a bunch of smug contented cows rooting at the trough.

try, fail, learn, try differently.

Leadership requires creating conditions that enable employees to do the kinds of experimentation that entrepreneurship requires.

To learn something new, you need to try new things and not be afraid to be wrong.

What the country needs is dirtier fingernails and cleaner minds.

Try, really try. Think, really think. Believe, really believe.

What in the name of reason does this nation expect of a people, poorly trained and hard pressed in severe economic competition, without political rights, and with ludicrously inadequate common-school facilities? What can it expect but crime and listlessness, offset here and there by the dogged struggles of the fortunate and more determined who are themselves buoyed by the hope that in due time the country will come to its senses?

But still try for who knows what is possible!

it’s always the patient who has to take the chance when an experiment is necessary. And we can find out nothing without experiment.

It’s time to reach deep into the soul of this country and once again give everyone — and I mean everyone — the opportunity to achieve the impossible.

The way I think about it, if you want to invent, if you want to do any innovation, anything new, you’re going to have failures because you need to experiment. I think the amount of useful invention you do is directly proportional to the number of experiments you can run per week per month per year. So if you’re going to increase the number of experiments, you’re also going to increase the number of failures.

Knowing what’s truly normal or average in a big country like America requires some work.

Our species needs, and deserves, a citizenry with minds wide awake and a basic understanding of how the world works.
