First, tell yourself what you want to be, then act your part accordingly.

Τίς εἶναι θέλεις, σαυτῷ πρῶτον εἰπέ: εἶθ' οὕτως ποίει ἃ ποιεῖς. (<i>First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do</i>.)

You need to know who you want to be.

But before you can determine what that role will be, you must ask yourself

First, decide who you want to be. This holds at any level — as an individual, as a team, as a community, as a nation. What do you want to stand for? What are your principles and values? Who do you wish to become?

Start doing what you said you want to do and start saying if it's really true.

The essential first step is to think for yourself.

Above all else, I want you to think for yourself, to decide 1) what you want, 2) what is true and 3) what to do about it

Do what you have to do, to do what you want to do.

Find out who you are, and do it on purpose.

I'm going to do what I want to do. I'm going to be who I really am. And I'm going to figure out what that is.

Decide what you want to do. Then decide to do it. Then do it.

Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do.

Ask yourself: What is the best I can do? And then do that.
