Half-wits talk much, but say little.

I'm constantly around people that talk a lot but say nothing. A sad case.

People have nothing to say, but they are afraid of saying nothing, so what they do say comes out flat and vapid and meaningless. The shadow of death is on every face.

The world is filled with polite, shy, inscrutable, unintelligible, tight lipped, superficial, dishonest and also honest people who for one reason or another do not say what they think. The search for freedom of speech has barely begun. Many do not reveal their thoughts because they are not sure what they think. Many would be braver in their speech if they were more certain of a sympathetic hearing. Many, particularly in places where success depends on conformity, are schooled to be hypocrites. The hidden thoughts in other people’s heads are the great darkness that surrounds us.

There's all the difference in the world between having something to say, and having to say something.

Yet we must say something when those who say the most are saying nothing.

Just imagine the silence in the world, if people talked only what they knew

We didn't say anything because there was such an awful lot to say, and no language to say it in.

To be silent. In hopes of not offending, in hopes of being accepted.

But what happened to people who never spoke, never raised their voices? Kept everything inside?

Gamache knew what happened. Everything they swallowed, every word, thought, feeling rattled around inside, hollowing the person out. And into that chasm they stuffed their words, their rage.

One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other.

Those who speak, do not know; those who know, do not speak.

You can't say everything, so you don't say nothing.

What else is there to say?Everything and nothing. You can't say everything, so you don't say nothing.
