We always long for the forbidden things, and desire what is denied us

We all engage in things forbidden and yearn for things denied.

Thus it is that we always pay dearly for chasing after what is cheap.

We fear rejection, want attention, crave affection and dream of perfection.

We suffer by wanting different things often at odds with one another, but we suffer even more by wanting to want different things.

We all dream of things we cannot have.

You exaggerate everything. You continually force the truth because you're always looking for something.

To do what is forbidden always has its charms, because we have an indistinct apprehension of something arbitrary and tyrannical in the prohibition.

We manage to avoid being happy while struggling to become happy, fulfilling one desire after the next, banishing our fears, grasping at pleasure, recoiling from pain — and thinking, interminably, about how best to keep the whole works up and running

We live in all we seek.

What we desire makes us vulnerable.

Until we have inner permission to be who we are, we will always be searching for it in the outside world.
