Keep a light, hopeful heart. But ­expect the worst.

What you reject today, you could accept tomorrow. And what you accept today, you could reject tomorrow. Never say never unless you can predict the future.

Something’s going to happen!

The future is unpredictable and uncontrollable.
Picture all the things that could go wrong.
Prepare for each, so they won’t surprise or hurt you.

Expect the best, plan for the worst and prepare to be surprised.

there's no harm in hoping for the best as long as you're prepared for the worst.

One may as well be optimistic. The road to catastrophe will be rougher if it's paved with dread.

"If good things are coming, they will be a pleasant surprise," said the seer. "If bad things are, and you know in advance, you will suffer greatly before they even occur."

Yesterday's weirdness is tomorrow's reason why.

If you survive until tomorrow, it could mean that either a) you are more likely to be immortal or b) that you are closer to death.

Expect the unexpected!

You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from.

Here is the exercise: find one wholly unexpected kind thing to do tomorrow and just do it. Notice what happens to your mood.
