In reply to the question “What or who is God?” Mother Teresa on one occasion said, “God is love and He loves you and we are precious to Him. He called us by our name. We belong to Him. He has created us in His image for greater things. God is love, God is joy, God is light, God is truth.” This statement encapsulates her belief in God and her experience of Him: God exists and is the Source of all that exists;

was Mother Teresa’s conviction that all people “deep down in their heart, believe in God.

No hardship or suffering, her own or that of her poor, could undermine Mother Teresa’s conviction that God IS love, that all He does or permits is ultimately for some greater good and, therefore, an expression of His immense and unconditional love.

He finally understood that God's presence was everywhere, at all times, and was experienced by everyone at one time or another.

God is equally near to everything and every place and is equally ready to give himself, so far as in him lies, and therefore a person shall know him aright who knows how to see him the same, under all circumstances.

The divine is not something high above us. It is in heaven, it is in earth, it is inside us

Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with His gracious presence.

Deep, solemn optimism, it seems to me, should spring from this firm belief in the presence of God in the individual; not a remote, unapproachable governor of the universe, but a God who is very near every one of us, who is present not only in earth, sea and sky, but also in every pure and noble impulse of our hearts.

There is clearly a sacred dimension to our existence, and coming to terms with it could well be the highest purpose of human life.

Truth sees God, and wisdom contemplates God, and from these two comes a third, a holy and wonderful delight in God, who is love.

I am as sure as I live that nothing is so near to me as God. God is nearer to me than I am to myself; my existence depends on the nearness and the presence of God.

Grace is at the nexus of love and awareness. There it’s all open and it’s all love.

[H]is heart is ever lifted up to God at all times and in all places. In this he is
never hindered, much less interrupted, by any person or thing. In retirement
or company, in leisure, business, or conversation, his heart is ever with the
Lord. Whether he lie down or rise up, God is in all his thoughts; he walks
with God continually, having the loving eye of his mind still fixed upon Him,
and everywhere “seeing him that is invisible.”7

"God is the most obvious thing in the world. He is absolutely self-evident - the simplest, clearest and closest reality of life and consciousness. We are only unaware of him because we are too complicated, for our vision is darkened by the complexity of pride. We seek him beyond the horizon with our noses lifted high in the air, and fail to see that he lies at our very feet. We flatter ourselves in premeditating the long, long journey we are going to take in order to find him, the giddy heights of spiritual progress we are going to scale, and all the time are unaware of the truth that "God is nearer to us than we are to ourselves." We are like birds flying in quest of the air, or men with lighted candles searching through the darkness for fire."
