To me, young has no meaning. It’s something you can do nothing about, nothing at all. But youth is a quality. And if you have it, you never lose it.

Youth is not a question of years: one is young or old from birth.

To be young means to be original, to have remained nearer to the sources of life: it means to be able to stand up and shake off the fetters of an outlived civilization, to dare — where others lack the courage — to plunge again into the elemental.

Youth has no age.

This is what youth is. The sheer belief that you will be able to keep every promise you made to someone else. That you will be able to love someone into forever when you do not even understand what forever means.

Youth is a circumstance you can't do anything about. The trick is to grow up without getting old.

What do most people mean when they say that? So young. Something innocent, something appealing, something helpless. But youth is not that! Youth is crude, youth is strong, youth is powerful — yes, and cruel! And one thing more — youth is vulnerable.

From childhood to youth is eternity, from youth to manhood, a season. Age comes in a night and is incredible.

Youth can not know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young.

Knowledge in youth is wisdom in age.

Youth comes but once in a lifetime

Yes yes yes, there it was. Youth must go, ah yes. But youth is only being in a way like it might be an animal. No, it is not just like being an animal so much as being one of these malenky toys you viddy being sold in the streets, like little chellovecks made out of tin and with a spring inside and then a winding handle on the outside and you wind it up grrr grrr grrr and off it itties, like walking, O my brothers. But it itties in a straight line and bangs straight into things bang bang and it cannot help what it is doing. Being young is like being like one of these malenky machines.
