When most people say they want to be a millionaire, what they might actually mean is “I’d like to spend a million dollars.” And that is literally the opposite of being a millionaire.

People want what they can’t have. People want what other people want. People want things only a select few have access to.

People don’t want to be rich. They want to be able to choose. The richer you are, the more choices you have. That is the freedom of money.

People don’t want what you make They want what it will do for them.

Consumers are not loyal to cheap commodities. They crave the unique, the remarkable, and the human.

Become a millionaire not for the million dollars, but for what it will make of you to achieve it.

A lot of people say they want to be great, but they’re not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve greatness.

Well, I don’t want to be king, I want to be real.

"We therefore work, not
for the work's sake, but for money — and money is supposed to get us
what we really want in our hours of leisure and play. In the United
States even poor people have lots of money compared with the wretched
and skinny millions of India, Africa, and China, while our middle andupper classes (or should we say "income groups") are as prosperous as
princes. Yet, by and large, they have but slight taste for pleasure. Money
alone cannot buy pleasure, though it can help. For enjoyment is an art
and a skill for which we have little talent or energy."

Or some people may yearn for riches, not for money’s sake but in order to send their children to college or provide themselves with the freedom and time for study and reflection which are necessary for their own spiritual growth. It is not power or money that such people love; it is humanity.

People want to buy expensive things. They just need a reason. And the goal isn’t just to be slightly above the market price — the goal is to be so much higher that a consumer thinks to themselves, “This is so much more expensive, there must be something entirely different going on here.

Some people wanted to get rich or famous, but my friends and I wanted to get real. We wanted to get deep. (Also, I suppose, we wanted to get laid.)

Seek not greater wealth, but simpler pleasure; not higher fortune, but deeper felicity.
