East, West, South or North makes little difference. No matter what your destination, just be sure to make every journey, a journey within. If you travel within, you’ll travel the whole wide world and beyond.

To return to the source of things, one has to travel in the opposite direction.

How can I go forward when I don't know which way I'm facing?

If you seek for freedom, you cannot find it. Absolute freedom itself is necessary before you can acquire absolute freedom. That is our practice. Our way is not always to go in one direction. Sometimes we go east; sometimes we go west. To go one mile to the west means to go back one mile to the east. Usually if you go one mile to the east it is the opposite of going one mile to the west. But if it is possible to go one mile to the east, that means it is possible to go one mile to the west. This is freedom. Without this freedom you cannot be concentrated on what you do. You may think you are concentrated on something, but before you obtain this freedom, you will have some uneasiness in what you are doing. Because you are bound by some idea of going east or west, your activity is in dichotomy or duality. As long as you are caught by duality you cannot attain absolute freedom, and you cannot concentrate.

In order to arrive at what you are not, you must go through the way in which you are not.

Which way you ought to go depends on where you want to get to...

To come to the knowledge you have not
you must go by a way in which you know not.

Yet to get to your destination, whatever it may be, it is necessary to go to the end.

One can traverse the Eastern paths simply by becoming interested in the nature of one’s own mind — especially in the immediate causes of psychological suffering — and by paying closer attention to one’s experience in every present moment. There is, in truth, nothing one need believe.

"To Know the Dark"

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

If you are facing in the right direction, all you need to do is keep on walking.

When you find your direction, check to make sure that it is the right one.

Wherever you go, east, west, north or south, think of it as a journey into yourself! The one who travels into itself travels the world.
